Default Lola Bunny: 2008 VW Rabbit (VW Lady Bug's Daily Driver)

Well, as some of you know, I retired my Lady Dub from daily driving within months after getting her so that I could perform mods, preserve her, etc.

I drove a 98 Saab for about 2 years, and traded it in for a 2010 Kia Soul when it wouldn't pass inspection back in February. The Kia gave me some great ideas for Lady (she was also red and black), and was supposed to be that daily driver I could simply use to haul stuff and get from point A to B, C, D, etc. (I drive about 600 miles per week on average, teaching at multiple places, working part-time jobs, and doing volunteer work).

A week ago yesterday, I was rear-ended in the Kia by a Nissan XTerra doing 35+ mph while I was at a dead-stop waiting to make a left-hand turn into my neighborhood. The 4-month old, 6000 mile, Kia was totaled - "unreparable" according to the body shop. So, the search began to find a new daily, and right on the Kia lot was her - my Lola!

I had originally wanted a VW Rabbit as my next daily, but went with Kia because of their guaranteed financing (it's impossible to verify my income because of my contract work). The deal was quick and easy because we could go straight to the loan-holder on the Kia and roll over the remaining balance into the Rabbit loan for now - I will be going to small claims court for the difference, lost wages, pain/suffering/etc... (I almost have full-range of motion back in my neck, and don't need the prescription pain pills any more, just the muscle relaxers.)

That's a nice rabbit! I looked at those when I was shopping for my NB.
I see a white one in town that is modded to almost look like a GTI.

Default Is It Starting All Over Again?

Lola got her first mod put on over the weekend... same starting point as Lady almost 3 years ago (worries my family and my bank account) - shorty antennae...

My 8-year-old nephew helped me with the install and was quite pleased with himself. The shorty came with 3 different screws. I removed the stock antennae, and showed him the screw - he picked the screw and put it into the shorty, and then I put it on Lola. He laughed at me as we took pictures!

That's awful (being rear-ended like that). Wow! I hope you've fully recovered?!

That's a pretty bunny. Love the stubby!

Still hovering at only about 90% range-of-motion 2 months later, and am forbidden from my regular work out routines (which really sucks because of the steroid-induced weight gain [heavy dosage for a month to kick-start recovery on the neck]) - but I have to smile when I can go cruisin' in Lola... everything happens for a reason!

Took Lola road-trippin' up to the Poconos for our anniversary getaway (well, a little late, but still...)

And of course, she manages to find some VW friends, even in the tiny town of Portland, PA, where we stopped to walk over the footbridge from PA to NJ!

Default 1st Oil Change

So I've been so busy with my dailies that Lady's been sitting around.

Changed the oil on the hubby's car and Lola this weekend. Let's just say, Lola's a brat!

Lola's adapters came in... just waiting on the hardware (will be here tomorrow) and she'll be sporting Lady's old shoes (the 17" Delta X's)... shoes are waiting in the garage...

Default New Shoes!

So Lola finally got her new shoes put on! Yes, they're Lady's stock DeltaX's - but aren't hand-me-downs part of being a lil sis?

Default Some More Goodies...

Lola will be getting another oil change this weekend (I drive about 800 miles/week during the semesters), but has had some new minor mods done in the meantime... I'm trying to keep reminding myself that she's a daily driver and that I shouldn't (and can't) go full-out hog-wild on her - but sometimes I can't resist...

Her eyebrows (which I could actually install, unlike Lady's):

I got the fun-pack that came with valve stem caps, license plate frame, and keychain (hubby got the keychain, I already had one):

And then we got some magnets and replaced the cap on the rear wiper assembly...
