Hey everyone, just thought I'd drop a line on what's going on.
For those who have read my other thread, I have sold the GTI, she was just giving me too many problems, most being VW related, some being caused by me but I just couldn't keep throwing money at it anymore.
I decided to go with something different this time and so far I am definitely not regretting it.
Ended up purchasing a 2010 Honda Fit Sport, Equipped with the 5 speed manual and Storm Silver Metallic paint. I wanted something functional yet reliable, and I was pretty much over the whole sporty high maintenance aspect of GTI's and cars similar to it.
As I type this I'm sitting at 556 miles on the Fit and the last tank I averaged 44.9mpg of mixed country driving. The car is pretty peppy for a little 1.5L and handles great, the transmission and clutch are just a dream. The biggest improvement over the GTI in my aspect has to be the feel and quietness of the interior, Honda really stepped up the game with the 2nd generation Fit, I remember thinking the 1st gen was a joke, a bit of a toy, they made it very comparable to the quality of an Accord. I will give the GTI a benefit of the doubt though as it was a MK4 and first introduced in 1999, comparing it to a 10 year newer car is a bit of a stretch.
Either way I'm very happy, it does seem weird to not be part of the VW community anymore. And I'm not really ready to step into the laughing stock of a Honda community so I'll probably just stick to myself on this one and just enjoy it individually.
Here are some pics.
I thought this picture was funny cause I didn't realize it till later, was taken right before I left the dealer. I didn't notice until later my GTI is in the distance beside the white van.
