Nice! Looks really sharp and clean. 5 speed I hope? How many miles? Any maintenance history? I fully expect to see you on Fred's to join the fun.

Top things to look at/do right away:
timing belt system
check for intake clogging (remove intake and clean if not already done)
fuel filter
vacuum lines
make sure VNT mechanism functions properly
oil changes every 10k - Mobil 1 TDT 5w-40 or Shell Rotella T 5w-40
skidplate

If you want to wake the engine up a bit, install PP520 nozzles (best to have them installed/calibrated/tested by Franko6 or Drivbiwire. Want more? Stage 2 or 3 tune from Rocketchip, TDtuning or Malone Tuning. A boost/EGT gauge would be required when upping to this level.

Get familiar with the excellent TDI vendors:
www.idparts.com
Bora Parts
TDTUNING.COM
Torque Junkie - Performance Parts - Buy from Torque Junkie
Parts for all water cooled VW cars specializing in TDI models
VW TDI timing belts, aluminum VW skid plates, VW short shift kits, VW G60 clutch, and Race Pipes by www.dieselgeek.com
...among others you can find on TDIclub.

Find a good mechanic near you for any work you are not doing yourself:

This guy is closest to you, great guy to deal with too:

If in doubt about anything, don't hesitate to drop me a line. I'll talk TDI's anytime. Congrats on the purchase...you'll love it.

Nice looking car! The TDI is the greatest VW motor ever. Enjoy the torque and the mileage.

Where did you find it? Golf TDIs are very rare. I find Beetle TDIs are easier to locate than Golf TDIs.

Definitely great info! But since its my second tdi, I'm likely to keep it stock. Don't fix it if it aint broken!

I found it on tdiclub.com. I've been just keeping an eye out for one. There's a blue golf in OH that looked pretty good. He's asking $5800 though.

It has 66k mi and yeah he's owned it for 7yrs. The price was unbelievable. Look at the wheels, the VW logo is still on them! It's in great shape.

$5k for a sub-100k mile TDI is a almost fraudulent! Great score!
