Default Meet Zeek

After over 3 months of non-stop aggravation, negotiations etc I ended up without a Beetle after my mishap in July. The lien holder didn't want the car to be fixed as for whatever reason it would have ended up with a salvage title.

I bought this, i'm the second owner, the original owner was in his late 40's, and an IBM geek who bought it brand new. Only had 96k on it when I bought it, everything works except the gas gauge...

He was kind of like me, and was extremely maintenance anal.

The interior is pretty much spotless, the paint well, it needs help. I feel pretty lucky I got a clean car like that for the price I did..

Don't worry i'll be returning to my Beetle bubble soon...

Here's my last picture of me with Herbie, after I stripped him down...

It's funny you say that, because I have more people ask me about the Z then any other car i've owned. This car makes #15.

I feel like I bought the wrong car already, and I kick myself in the ass for not getting another beetle. But i've opened my a savings account thats getting $500 a month put in for my "beetle" fund...

Also, it's suppose to snow here big time over the next few days, so i'm really not looking forward to driving this thing in snow

I just bought my beetle after my 4x4 truck was starting to have problems. I sold it for close to what I paid for the beetle so I came out pretty good. No one would think I was gay driving a 4 wheel drive but now I fit the part in a beetle I guess.

$6000 seems to be the going rate for a decent beetle in the south. I looked at some around 4500 or so but they are in terribad condition.

Smile Updated pics

Hey guys here is the follow up. When I got the car the paint was heavily oxidized. I went over the car three times with rubbing compound and it shined up really nice. The spoilers paint was shot so I redid it. I'm trying to get rid of it. I'm having a hard time pricing it, here is what I have as the ad I was going to post tell me what you guys think.

Here are the pics I have of it

Pictures by eltieboi - Photobucket

Greetings to those interested in my car,

I'm offering up for sale a 1986 Nissan 300ZX N/A (non-turbo and that's a very good thing) it's a 5 speed. The drivetrain when maintained is “bullet proof”

The car run like new. It does not burn or drip oil. All the fluids have been changed in the last 6 months. The oil has been freshly changed. The Z “Zeek”
has had mobil1 synthetic oil threw out it's life. The steering is tight as is the suspension. No odd noises, it doesn't run hot on the warmest of days with the a/c blasting out ice cubes.

This is a no stories car. You rarely find that with Z31's, which where abused, neglected or hacked and modified. That's the reason I bought the car, of which was bought from the original owner. I have all the original owners manuals, t-top keys, t-top covers, t-top shades, and antenna key (you use this to raise/lower the antenna)

The front tires are Yokahomas, the rears are studded snow tires. I limited my driving of the car in bad weather. It actually did well when it was driven in snow to and from work.

I'd say the snow tires have seen their last season, the fronts probably have another 15k on them.

Here is what I have done since owning the car, and have receipts for.

The driver side tail light had to be replaced. An elderly lady backed into the car very slowly while I was at work and only cracked the light. I still have the original one.
Tynan's Nissan installed the light, and I obtained the last OEM tail light available through Nissan. This was almost a $400 cost!
There was no other damage.

I had a vaccum line for the heating system replaced. When I got the car it was stuck on defrost, and even when off it constantly blew hot air in the cabin. The system now works correctly and on all settings. Mastermind of Denver did the repair.

Colorado Tire and Service replaced the clutch slave cylinder and flushed the
fluid. At that time I also had the rear diff fluid changed. $290 right there

At every oil change I have ran BK44 fuel Injector cleaner through it, and it truly makes a difference in the performance of the car. This stuff is $30 a can!

It has a new air filter, also upgraded the headlamps to Sylvania Silverstars ($45)

I had the windows tinted by Tinteks where I regularly have my windows done. He used the best 3M film available. They are very dark and make the car look awesome. There is a shade band on the windshield.
The windshield is crack free.

When I bought the car it had some early 90's tape deck and speakers (still have them) which I had Cartoys replace with a Kenwood deck with Ipod connectivity, and aux input. I also had them install Infinity Kappa speakers front and rear. The sound system is pretty amazing! I have the receipt for this as well, this alone was about $700.

The car has been looked over by Tynan's nissan and the service department manager to quote said “I haven't seen one this clean in the last ten years. I have his personal cell phone number if you need a testament to the car.

The car has about 95k on it when I bought it, and currently it has 104k. You would never know by driving it!

It's not a new car, I spent a lot of time, money and sweat getting it to where it is now. Everything works, except the gas gauge. I had it diagnosed the same time I had the heat/vaccum system fixed and they said they would have to rebuild the cluster, they could not give me an exact number all they said is “It will require the dash coming out, how bad do you need a gas gauge?”
On that note, it has a 19 gallon gas tank (which has never had anything other then Shell V-Power since I owned it).

There is a fuel light that comes on when there is roughly 3 to 4 gallons of gas left in the tank.

The voice alert system does work, “fuel level is low” is the que to fill up. Door is open etc, all work. The alarm works, all the lumbar adjustments work.

The tires have been balanced.

Here is the not so pretty, and i'm only disclosing all of this because I don't want to have to answer endless questions! There are some fairly decent chips/scrapes, but like I said it's a 5 foot car. Looks very good from 5 feet.

The T-top seals should be redone, as well as the window seals. They only leak a very little bit, when going through an automatic car wash (and I only used the drive threw car wash once, I don't like them)

The headliner is still in OK shape, but needs to be re-glued in a few spots. I may or may not have time to fix it prior to sale.

I could not get the bezels that go around the headlights back on after they where replaced. No one notices or can tell, and honestly it doesn't detract from the car.

The paint on the car is the only pit-fall I can think of. There are a few small dents mostly on the passenger side. The paint has faded in some areas, and has some largeish chips on the hood. It's 25 year old paint and it's from Colorado. The sun is viscious. It still shines up great, and looks great from 5 feet away. The rims are free of curb rash. I've just gone over the car with rubbing compound, followed by a wash, and 5 coats of wax.

The car is on the original clutch and it occasionally makes some noise. It does not slip, but at some point it will need replacing.

The trunk mat is “tatty” in places from being in the sun. Honestly, I put two small floor mats over the area where it does not look good.

The spoiler I resprayed myself, and it came out “ok”, it was completely worn to the point where there was more of the white plastic showing then black.
There is some over-spray on the back bumper and the driver side of the car.

The front rotors are very slightly warped, sometimes when braking it shimmy a very small amount. Mastermind said don't replace them yet it would be a waste of money at the moment.

All the belts, hoses etc are fine. I've had the dealer, as well as Mastermind look it over and everyone is very impressed with the care the car has had!

I've done my best to disclose everything. I've taken pictures of all the imperfections. The car resides in a climate controlled parking garage, and has lived a very nice life.

If you haven't figured out, i'm a car guy to the fullest!
VW's are more my thing, an opportunity to buy another at a steal is the only reason i'm posting this car up for sale! I might kick myself for it later, as Nissan's (this is my 2nd the first being a 240sx) are cheaper, and easier to fix....

If you have questions after this lengthy ad, shoot me an email. I'll answer them as best as possible! I love this car, i'm not going to entertain low-ball offers, teens wanting to ruin the originality of the car, or shipping it anywhere. It drives tight, and gets compliments EVERYTIME I take it out. I do not need to get rid of the car and have no problems keeping it, so please keep that in mind. Cheers!
