Default Meet Sage!

Hey Everyone. As most of you know now, i've sold Titan back in November. But I don't think i've formally introduced everyone to His successor ...

Well everyone, meet Sage! She is a 2003 Alaska Green Jetta GL TDI

I Purchased her on November 19th 2010, almost 3 weeks ago. She had 224k miles on the clock when I got her and now has 226k.

So far, all she has gotten were the Rokkor Coilovers I bought for Titan but never used, the Defender-Tech Skidplate from Titan, and a lot of stickers.

I'm having technical difficulties with photos at the moment, but i'll post up some more when I get this all settled.

But for now, here she is with her buddy, Blue! A 2003 Jetta GLI VR6

and her buddy, Miss Kracken

The stickers I bought

Sage's first roadtrip was to Bradenton, Fl for an event called FixxFest! I went up with my local Vdub club.

Sage sporting some proper Fixxfest Attire

Sage with her Vw Friends at Fixxfest

Oh and one of the downsides of being lower and waiting for Rivet nuts in the mail to come in is the potential for a busted oil pan.... Which I got literally 8 days after ownership! (a ratchet clamp was drifting across the road and all of us hit it, but I was the unlucky one that with the busted oilpan . No, it has nothing to do with being low as it took out some other stock height cars too! When my towtruck came, 2 others came as well). This happened on the way home from fixxfest.

Sage being towed home, 150 miles away.

But she is all good to go now. I'm STILL waiting on those Rivet Nuts , but I have a hybrid (steel bottomed) oil pan for now as protection until those nuts come in.

Nice Jetta Um I don't think you need to go lower since you are low enough to bust a hole in the oil pan :P , and isn't Vtec a honda thing ?

Not til you get the skid plate installed though. lol No more busted oil pans! How's Sage doing with this cold weather? Probie seems to hate it. I wonder if having a crappy camshaft is going to affect his start ups in the cold mornings and possibly make fuel economy drop. BTW, what's your fuel economy at this point?

My fuel economy is ok. I haven't recalculated it just yet, but i believe its in the mid 40s.

I FINALLY GOT MY RIVET NUTS IN!!! I ordered them the day before i put the coils on and they are just getting here. I may put the skidplate on tomorrow afternoon!

With this new battery, she is starting up better than ever! Unfortunately, it really isn't quite that cold here. Its still in the 50s-70s so the glowplugs haven't even needed to ignite yet lol

Well AM starts are still cold starts. Just make sure the glow plug light is off before cranking it over.

Glad you got the Rivet Nuts in. You'll feel better knowing she's protected!

Skidplate is on!!! No pics however lol. But i know its already got some scratches

Ohh, and today, I did the 5-Brake Light Mod and installed a Rear Foglight.

In normal operation, the brake lights are just 3. The center high stop light and the top lights of each side. In 5-Brake light mode, it activates the rear fogs as brake lights.

Crappy Phone night shots..... Camera was dead.

Parking Lights

Looks good , SO unless you have an oil suction device, do you need to remove the skid plate when you drain the oil ? I know the NBC had a skid plate like structure under the motor that i had to remove when you went to drain the oil .

Nope. When you order the skidplate, there is a pentagon shaped hole where the drain plug is so no need to ever take it off.

Here is a picture from the bug for reference.

While I am sad you sold Titan, after working so hard to get him, I am happy that you stayed VW.
