Default The Cheat's 1990 Cabriolet 2.0 16V

So here's a decent cammyphone pic of my new ride. It's a 1990 VW Cabriolet in Tornado Red. It's got all the power stuff except for power top, and has some minor stuff done to it. It needs rear shocks badly, but I'm waiting for Impex to hurry up with them so I can focus on further tuning.

Mods:

Drivetrain:
2.0L 16V motor
1984 GTi transmission
Custom Motronic programming
ABD Big-Bore tube
Cheesed airbox
2.25" custom exhaust (made by me!)

Suspension:
15" BBS RZs with 205/50R15 Kumho ASXen
GTI shocks/struts/springs

Body:
Clipper bodykit

ICE:
Denon 4x6 2-ways
Denon 3.5" 2-ways
Kenwood KRC-435 tape deck

Awaiting install:
2.2l stroker kit
20v head from a 1998 Passat 1.8T
GT3071 turbo
RC engineering injections
MK4 cluster/engine harness
Hi-flo cat
3" exhaust
FK 60/40 springs
Bilstein shocks/struts
195/50R15 Hankook K106 tires

Wish list:
coach fabric for the interior
white top
white interior

Here it is as of the day I got it (May 8, 2006). The reason why I'm just replacing the factory rear struts with OEM for now is that I have to have 4" of ground clearance to make it onto the Autotrain (which is taking me and the Cabby to FL in 3 weeks). The 60/40 would make it about 1" lower than the minimum. I only paid $1200 for the car as it sits, so I'm going to sink another $800 into it and for $2000, I'll have a decent ride.

$1,200?! Was anything wrong with it? My niece just got her first car, a white/white *1995 Cabby. She paid $3,800 for hers. (*edit: right year now)

edit: Not to take over your thread, but here is my niece and her new ride.

Nope, nothing wrong...my buddy just needed a truck for his line of work and was willing to let it go for a good price to a fellow dubber who will take care of it/finish it.

Car could use a 2nd gear synchro maybe, but I got something fo' dat ass in the form of a built GTi transmission with LSD. THat's probably this winter...but until then, I will deal.

Oh, the 2006 won't be in my driveway for two reasons: it's auto and it has tan interior. I eat in my car, and I like to shift, so therefore it's out.

NO no no the RED one silly

Yeah, I eat in my car too. Sometimes I'm on the road for 2 or 3 hours one way. Thank God I'm only part time.

Let's see a pic of under the hood! The Litchfield Bug-In was great this year! There's a CT VW Association show on the 8th and 9th in Mansfield Hollow (check their website). Are you planning on attending?
