Default Genesis, my 2005 Toyota Prius

For Those Who Came In Late:

I have owned 12 VW's in my life. And my last one, was a 2002 VW nB, WHISPER.

After that, I got two SCIONS (XB, XA) in a short time. And then I traded my XB in on a 2005 Toyota Prius, which this fall I will have had for a year. It's a great hybrid, but a tad boring, I will admit.

Oh, it gets great mileage, and has all the bells and whistles, but it's boring to look at.

So this past Friday, I got some STATUS rims (17 inch), and some KUMHO tires as well. Not only do they look better, but they perform better then the stock Goodyears.

I made sure they weighed about the same as the stock wheels. And I have not noticed a significant drop in mileage since I got them.

Here is one shot, of the car last year. And then a shot of the car on Saturday before it rained, and a close up of the rim.

I hope to get a better shot of the car this week.

I can understand not liking the car for it's looks. But I think the new rims help a great deal.

So are those 14" rims? I remember that they are small, just can't remember how small.

Look good - I hadn't thought of aftermarket rims on a Prius...or ever seen that before.

Yeah, I have to admit it does look good with the new wheels. Stock Prius wheels are 15", so I'm guessing the new ones are 16"s.

Most of the Priuses (Prii ?) around ATL are bone stock and don't even have tint. The Scions OTOH......there are some interesting versions rolling around.

I drove a friend's Prius this past weekend - interesting ride.
like the MPG display, faster pickup than poor ole Bluenote (who is almost 7 years old now) and found the feel of accelerating to be different, can't put my finger on it, it was fun tho and quick.
the Prius has the same short nose and long dash but unlike Bluenote, I couldn't really tell what was in front driving - but then again, I can't figure out what's around in anything except Blue these days

The stock size is 15; I got 17 put on it. Here is a picture of the tire size deference. Not much. As the guy said when he put them on, if the Goodyears had been new (I have almost 17,000 miles on the car, all by me), they would have been close to the same height. You know, rubber wearing off and all.

And also a shot of the tires mark.

That is a great question. I think I have a shot of when I got great mileage (it always gets great mileage, but I digress)

hold on; let me find it...
this is about a year old; shot with a camera phone, so it's blurry, and all...I added the 'lens effect' for fun.

hmmm, I'll have to ask my friend if the display can be changed - right now it's digital - two whole numbers, one decimal . . . she opened the trunk saying how roomy it is - I said, so that's where the batteries are, huh? and she said *I think so* - I said is the spare in there too? she says, *I don't know I haven't looked* - but then again, she is in charge of a 1 year old so I guess priorities are very different, LOL.

I haven't seen my friend with her Prius to ask about the display (see above) but at the new job there's someone (actually there are two in the lot) that gave me that experience of having the car come around a corner and with my back turned didn't hear the car approaching - that was a WOW - so quiet, just slipping by, almost like magic, ha ha. Gives new meaning to look both ways before crossing the street, huh? Cool anyways!
