Default "creaking" noise when turning

When I turn my steering wheel to the right there is a creaking noise. I am a new NB owner and don't know if that is normal or if I should take it in for this.

Thanks

Daisy sort of creaks, but not when I'm turning. Sort of sounds like it's coming from the dash. Happens occassionally. Is she talking to me?!

It sounds like a door opening at a haunted house. I should probably have it looked at from the dealer.

Yes! That's what my noise sounds like too. Very quiet though. Since it happens so sporadically, I doubt Daisy will do it for the dealer. If it happens more often, I will definitely mention it at the next oil change.

Another Daisy! YAY! My yearbook teacher in high school named her daughter Daisy and it really fit the girl. Since then, I've like the name and even thought of it for my future child(LONG way off). But now the car is Daisy. Hmmm, name a kid after a car? There's also crazi_daisy on here. Could Daisy be the most popular car name on the org?

That creaking noise is from a ball joint. Mine had that and i ruturned it to the dealer, becasue i had one a week with the car (used) and they fixed it with a $50.00 deductible. Its a ball joint trust me, think about it. Which side gets more turns when driving? Left or right? Mhmm...

Thanks for the info, my car is only 2 weeks old and has 400 miles on it, do you still think its a ball joint- I thought that would be something that would wear out from use.- thanks.

Since your car is only 4 weeks old, definitly take it back to the dealer and let them determine and repair the noise before it developes into something worse. If they cannot determine what is making the noise, at least it will be in their records in case of future trips/problems.
Other than that, I trust you are enjoying your NB?

Thanks for the advice Maggadog and mezonesxbox. My cruise control was acting up(done it 3 times in 1 1/2 years)and I mentioned it, so at least it's in their files. At least our problems aren't unique - by now VWoA and the dealers should have heard it all.

My car creaked and drove me crazy for quite a while. It sounded like something to do with body-flex when turning over a slope, like out of the driveway. I tracked it down to the door weatherstriping over the window squeeking against the roof. A little car wax on the underside of the roof in that area cured it.

I had a similar noise, it was the lower control arm bushings. Replaced them with urethane ones from www.ecstuning.com .

I took it in to VW and they said it was the "bushings". They are replacing them.

The creaking noise came back a few days ago I just took it in today (to a different dealer) and they determined it was a bad strut top bearing.

My daisybug is only a month old (2006 TDi), and it has developed a kind of groan on the drivers side - most noticeable when driving at slow speed. It kind of sounds like something is rubbing somewhere. I am booked in for Monday and they are going to try and find out where it's coming from.
It's a low frequency noise - a dull sort of creak. Hopefully nothing too serious.... we are under warranty, but I couldn't stand to put up with it.... it's really annoying!
