Default Have to double lock to lock doors. Help

On my wife's 2000 1.8T beetle, when she arms the vehicle with the factory remote, the alarm arms but the doors won't lock. She has to hit unlock followed by lock again for it to work.

Anyone have a fix for this double-locking issue?

Thanks so much.

I believe it does both. Everything, including the audible alerts, seem to work properly. Just the door locks aren't locking on the first try. They aren't even trying the first time because you can here if the door lock actuators are triggered. Must unlock, then lock again.

I believe our warranty ran out last month. What perfect timing.

Just in case double check the back door (hatch/trunk... I do not know what to call it ) and the hood. I remember having the hood not completly closed after an oil-add and the car not locking.

In my case there was no securty beep too tough, but I can be wrong (it was a while ago).

Mine does the exact same thing, but I haven't looked into fixing it. I have too much other crap that's going wrong with it to even begin thinking about fixing the locks. Arrrgggg.

I had the same problem and I was told by the dealer that it was a door switch that went bad. They replaced both door switches and they work fine now. Theyre even quiter than they were.

just for giggles did you try to open the door? maybe the pins get stuck?, or it could be a low voltage problem. when the battery gets low on power it pops the pins back up.

Thanks for the replies.

The trunk and hood are closed (double checked). The battery is new and the alternator seems fine so I believe there is plenty of power to the lock actuators. And, yes, I can open the door after the first lock attempt (alarm sounds).

I hope this bug doesn't start nickel and diming me.

Anyone with this problem actually get it fixed?
