Angry Interior pollen filter change out

I've decided to change the pollen filter today in my Beetle, also wanted to check the ECU code so I removed all the plastics and what do I find? A bunch of leafs! There were so many that I could not see the ECU! Changing out the filter was easy, its just that the cowling is not a very good design with large holes protruding into inside of the car what were they thinking? Ok, I'm done venting

Avoid parking under trees!!!

I'm with you. I think the only reason there is a pollen filter is to keep leaves out of the HVAC system.

I've got a idea! I plan on removing the cowling to get more junk out so i'll probably install some screens over the large holes to prevent big leaves entering the interior of car, funny thing is when i changed the pollen filter a leaf fell down into the blower and I could not get it out after playing with the blower speed it got mulched and than came out the vent

Default Pollen Filter Change out

I have made a few attempts to check out my pollen filter just to see what it looks like. The problem I have is with removing the right side dash panel. I experience a supreme "Pucker Factor" as I am trying to pry the panel loose. I can just feel the thing flying into about three or four pieces and causing me to say DAMN!! Is there a civilized way to go about getting the thing free without the unwanted effect on my sphincter?
And yes, I have removed all the screws.
