Default Anyone take thier glovebox door apart?

I'm gonna ask before i try to do it myself and break something. The linkage inside the door is sticking and i need to get to it to either glue a broken clip or something, or maybe just lube it up.

Any ideas on how to get my hands in the inner workings?

I've been thinking of this too- the doors are a really sucky design.

Yes! My latch was broken and i fixed it by opening the actual door appart. It was a pretty horrific sound when cracking it open and feels like its going to brake, but fear not. Just keep the pressure and keep pulling. Once open i fixed the latch and sealed the door back with epoxy glue. This operation works best by removing the glovebox assembly out from the car. Over time the latch comes out of place thus no door opens. Once you open it youll see that you just have to put some parts in there place and hope it doesnt brake again. What i did is to reinforce all those moving parts inside with some wire, crazy glue and epoxy just so this mechanism stays there for a long time.

OMG Jose! I did this yesterday morning! The little sucker wouldn't open all the way so I took the whole thing off.

Piece of cake....although it was sweaty! If I can do it , I know you can! lol

By the way, ended up being a barbie shoe stuck in there....hhhmmmmmmmmm, wonder who put that in there?

Pssst....had to use the super duper socket set. I though it was regular ol' screws, but it's not. Took me a flippin' long, sweaty time to find the right size too!

I removed the glove box from my friend's beetle because she had broken the handle on the glove door. She was luckily able to just buy a new door/handle and not the whole glove box. Anyways, it wasn't too bad. I think I used the Bentley for reference. The toughest part for me was finding the right tools, as all the ones I had seemed too long. I had to go to Sears to buy a shorter length torx screwdriver. Anyways, should be much easier for a seasoned veteran like yourself!

I know! At first I was using domestic gauge with metric (drinking MGD while wrenching on my Beetle or downing Heinekens while repairing the Ford) but once I got it all sorted out and matched it all up, everything came together much more smoothly...
