Default 2000 beetle turbo a/c won't work

a/c light is on but the compressor is not kicking on, also the black wire that goes in the fuse block on top of the battery is hot and looks alittle burnt. need a/c working please help

There are multiple posts on the fuse on top of the battery problems. Do a search and good luck!

Here's a good link...some of us don't mind helping out... That wire is probably your problem.

No A/c!!!???

I found several good posts on the old ORG, but the server won't let me view them. If you go to Google and search "battery melted site:forums.newbeetle.org" without the quotes, you can view the cached version of the pages.

what does the black wire on the left side of the fuse block on top of the battery go to ????? the green fuses look ok, no melt there !! but a/c not working still any ideas or answers thanks rick

Not sure...will have to try to check the Bentley tonight, unless someone has one with them.
