Default Help! Problems!

I have a high mileage (125k) 2000 1.8T and have a couple concerns/problems:

(1) My DRL's don't work anymore! I know some people disable them on purpose but I didn't! Any ideas? Fuse maybe?

(2) After sitting for awhile and then starting there is a fairly high pitched whining noise. I can never get it to happen when my friend (a mechanic for GM) is around. I shut it off and immediately restart it and it goes away. Could it be the secondary air injection pump? That was my first thought.

Thanks for any help!

The high pitched whine is definately the secondary air pump, mine sounds like a shop vac. Are you sure your low beams are not burned out? If the low beam portion of the headlight burns out the DRL's will not light up. Good luck.

They work fine when switched on, but they will not come on without the switch being moved from the "off" position to the on position.

If the parking brake is up (on) only 1 click the DRL"s won't work!
It may be a bad switch, or an adjustment???

Didn't think to check the parking brake, will check that as soon as I get back to my car (in class right now). I'm working on getting a new switch right now so maybe that will solve my problem.
