Default coolant temp problem

i just installed a new temp sensor in my car. i put a green one in from ecs tuning. well first i started by taking the cap off of the coolant tank, i then took the old one off and put the new one in. i lost about a pint of fluid. well when all was said and done. i started the car and now the temp light blinks red?! wtf! i still havent cleared the cel but if anyone can give me some advice i would be so greatful. i dont wanna move the car til i rectify the problem at hand. once again thanx

Double check by putting the old sensor back in and see what happens. If you know for sure that you only lost 1 pint of coolant and you have replaced that amount then you should be OK. Also check your wires to the sensor. Good luck mate.

It could be the coolant level sensor got unplugged or wires broke since you took off the coolant cap. You might want to check that. Could be telling the computer that you have no coolant.

I just changed my sensor (p0016 cel). I didn't pull the coolant cap and it worked fine. Good luck!
