Default Fuel Gauge is a speedometer

My speedometer stopped working the other day. Then the gas gauge started acting almost like a backwards speedometer.

Anyone know if this is most likely a short, or is it most likely a bad ECM, or bad instrument cluster? Anyone know where the ECM is located so I can check the wiring harness inbetween?

I suppose I should mention it's a '98 2.0L.

Thanks,
Kevin

you know some of us have been trying to reprogram the cluster to have the speedo act as a tach and the tach act as a speedo -- sounds like your car is a little closer than the rest of us!

Seriously, I bet it's the cluster. Is the face cracking on it?
