I am wondering.. just passed 60k.. had the timing belt and tensioners done, payed way too much, but at least so far no problems.. since my car is almost 6 years old, should I replace the factory battery? And what happens when I disconnect the power? Does anything need to be reset?

I honestly have no idea on the replacement, I'd suggest that you did replace the battery soon though, and also the only thing that needs to be reset when a battery dies or is replaced is the clock and sometimes the presets on your radio, but that's all that i can think of, everything else is pretty much the same

You might want to have the radio code handy, too.

Reset clock.. radio presets.. and I sure hope I can find the card with the radio code on it

Thanks. I'm guessing it will die just about the time it starts to get below freezing.. which is soon.. because it's been taking more than a few seconds to start a cold engine lately.

Ditto - I replaced my stock with a DieHard...in fact every car I have had has had a DieHard as a replacement...usually the last battery I have to buy for a vehicle.

Well, did the replacement yesterday afternoon. What a pain. Why did they have to put the thing half-way under the fender and bury it under plastic and a cover?

Ended up getting an Interstate.

Almost all the car batteries sold in the US are made by Johnson Controls and sold under many brand names. They make Diehard,Autocraft, Equalizer, Kirkland, Everstart, Interstate, Motorcraft, Optima, Inspira, Truestart, Duralast, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Honda, Eveready, Energizer, Power Connection and many other private label brands. So most batteries come from the same place.
