Default Cruise Control not Working

Hi All,

About three weeks ago my rear drivers side blinker worked intermittanly. Brought to dealer and they replaced the socket - bulb was ok. I don't use the cruise control often but went to use and now it does not work. Brought the car in today and they can't seem to figure out what the problem is. According to the "computer" the tail light's are ok, the cruise switch is also ok, they think that it might be the computer...not the main computer but the one that controls the cruise control...Does this make sense? Does any one know how many computers are on the car or have an idea?

The VW dealer has been in contact with the tech's @ VW and will hopefully have it repaired tomorrow. I think that they are going to replace a computer.

Thanks

2005 TDI Beetle 25694 miles.

You have the same year and engine as me...hmmm. My cruise acts up in two different ways.

1. Does not work at all - happened about 3 times in two years
2. I will set it but Daisy will take over and keep increasing the speed! One time I let her go and she was still accelerating when I slowed her down, 20 mph over what I set her at. This happens more when going down a hill.

Is this the first time your CC has acted up?

Yes it is the first time it has acted up. Received the car back this morning. It turns out that there is a switch on the clutch that remained opened or closed not sure which and the computer would not let the cruise engage. All better now. Was repaired under warranty and no charge for loaner for two days. It was a Chrysler PT Cruiser - rode nice but the gas mileage sure sucked. Only 23 mpg. Glad I got my TDI back.
