Unhappy coolant system

just bought a coolent green top sensor for $4.10 at nampa. i payed 5 in shipping but only 4.10 for the part. my bug still does not work right. i replaced my thermostat, when to church to repent for my profanity caused by the replacing of the thermostat, then waited 4 days for a .54 cent clip from cali to get here cause i lost mine. but my car runs hot ass satans ass after a good mexican meal. my top hose, coming from the (same hose that has the coolant temp sensor) driver side on top is hot, well it is very hot, and my lower hose on the passenger side is cold, not cool, it is cold as it is out side after the car run for 10 mins. anyone now what is wrong, and good please tell me it is not my water pump, but if it is how much is that?

I think he's about to replace his waterpump AND timimg belt. Otherwise he's gunna wear his knees out praying it ain't so. In Yankee dollars thats around $100 or so, but pesos?? Of course that's doing it yourself but if you have to pay a bloke to do it for you then quadruple that price.

I dunno how to find out if it's your water pump or not. But how many miles do you have on it already?

Most likely culprit is a bad water pump... but an airlocked system will also have the same symptoms. Make sure the reservoir is full of VW coolant. I doubt a thermostat would cause this since they always freeze up in the open position. Usually first detected in winter when it just take too long to get decent heat.

Good luck

I think if you remove the thermostat housing and thermostat you can actually see the impeller blades on the waterpump. These are made of plastic and break off meaning the pump cannot pump. If they are all still on the hub then the pump is OK but it sounds like they are broken.
