Question leatherette rip in driver sear

I just bought a 2006 new beetle diesel. There is already a rip in the driver seat lower back. Does anyone know how to fix rips in the leatherette? I can't put on seat covers because of the airbags in the seats.

Already ripped?!? Oh no!

Is it on a seam, or just in the center of a section of the seat? We had a spot on a seam in our '99 restitched, relatively easy fix. I don't have any idea what to do if it's not on a seam.

How long have you had the TDI? Any chance you could cite faulty workmanship and have it fixed under warranty? (Not saying you should do this if you KNOW that you were responsible, though.)

Also, seat covers are an option. Several companies sell NB specific covers that look great and are airbag compatible. They're not cheap, but then that new TDI wasn't cheap either.

Good luck-- let us know how you handle it!
