Default Timing Belt plus

We're replacing the timing belt and ALL that mess that comes along with it. I can't seem to find a 'how-to' on how to do all that on a 1.8t. The old forums won't let me search for anything, so I need some help. (hint hint, noR) Also, will we need to unbolt the exhaust for raising and lowering the engine?

Oh, and don't remove the pin from the new tensioner.
Great! Thanks for the info. If you can think of any other helpful hints, send them my way.

Best deal on parts would be from Metalman.
We've already ordered a kit from ecs that comes with timing belt, tension roller, tensioner assembly, idler roller, Hepu water pump with metal impeller, accessory drive belt, thermostat, and gold under drive pulleys. We also ordered 2 bottles of G-12 and new stretch bolts for the motor mounts. Should we need anything else?

I have an '05 NB 2.0 (Gas). My dealer is recomending that I fork over several hundred hours to replace the timing belt at 60,000 miles. Another nearby VW dealer told me that the belt does not have to be replaced until well over 100k miles. He said their service dept. has not even replaced the belt on an '05 beetle yet. When should I get this belt replaced? I know there is $%*#$ to pay if it breaks, so if I need to do it now, I will.

Secondly, who in the Atlanta area can do this job for cheaper than a VW dealer?

Thanks in Advance!

For the earlier models the recommended mileage for replacement is 105,000 I don't know about the new ones though.

Has anyone else experienced this with the HEPU?
