Hey gang,
Before I bought my Turbo S 10 days ago, I thought I had read there was a spoiler "kill switch" under the dash. I found the switch, but as you Turbo S experts already know, all it does is bypass the automatic 45-mph trigger. Has anyone heard of rewiring the switch to make it a kill switch? I'd love to be able to defeat the silly thing. Thx |

What you need is a wire cutter and to click here.

Wow thanks Fowvay, this seems too good to be true. Just to be clear, when I snip these wires I change the pre-set speed at which the spoiler goes up from 45 to 93-mph? Where does the 93-mph come from? And the under-dash switch still makes it go up "manually" at any speed desired?

If you snip the wires it will not go down until you push the button ... which isn't a problem for Tom ... since he moved the switch to a more convienent place ... but his is a 93MPH one anyway, for those of us with it in the stock location, I think carrying on two conversations on two cell phones is probably safer than to keep reaching for that switch. I am not sure what deploys the spoiler speed wise ... but I know it is not related to the speedometer directly or indirectly through the ECU ... when my speedo sensor was broken by the mechs changing my clutch, the spoiler still deployed in the 93MPH range ... but I had no speedometer working for the 5 days awaiting the part, spoiler would just stay up after that, unless put down by the switch, that's how I know the mechs took a joytestride after reinstalling everything ... they didn't know how to get it down with the switch. |

Oh, OK. I'd prefer the opposite. I'd love the set up to be that it goes up automatically at 70+ unless I choose to manually raise it at lower speeds.
I really don't want it up all the time, which it is in stock mode. What is a tail-wagger? |

They're offered by Whispering Wolf for a PayPal payment but it may be an old site... I haven't gotten an e-mail response to see if they still have them. Don't wanna send a PayPal payment before confirming it's still a functioning business. Ny one out there bought a Tailwagger recently?

There is a current thread where someone said the just ordered one today. I think it is in 1.8T forum. Here is the thread: http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15202

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe even as low as 65 or 70, with a higher retraction speed as well... maybe 20 or 25. One other thought... has anyone had any bad spoiler experiences in the winter, when the car is encrusted in ice or snow? I guess it's a must to make sure it's free to go up before driving?
