Default driver seat removal

I would like to remove my drivers side seat to do some wiring.

How do you take it out?

THanks

Move the seat all the way foward, and flip the backrest forward as well. On the plastic trim that covers the seat tracks, towards the end of it you will see round plugs, pop those out with a pointy pocket knife, then remove the screws that are under them, now you can remove the plastic trim pieces.

Move the seat all the way to the back position and look just to the side of the seat release handle (the one you pull to move back and forth) and you'll see two 13mm nuts, remove those.

Now slide the seat foward a little then slam it back and the front end of seat where it was secured will pop free. Lean the front end of the seat way up and get under there and release the wiring harnesses. There may be a zip tie as well to cut. Then slide the seat all the way back until the little wheels pop out of the track, carefully lift and remove seat from car (great way to hurt a back).

With the seat out, see how much loose change you can find. My personal record is $3.29, a credit card receipt and one old french fry.

With the exception of the change and fry, This is exactly how I removed my seat. I had to replace the drivers seat belt latch. VERY easy.

here are some helpful tips:

When we did this switch in January, we unhooked the beetles battery (you never want to have the car turn on and sense that there are no seats there/missing airbags)

When we connected the battery, we stood away from the beetle and then we let ONE person start the beetle, the rest remained away... hope that helps.

Ive had my switch for 2 months now, no issues at all, just wonderful LEATHER!
