Exclamation Safety Recall Notice-N4

Received a recall notice in the mail today for 1998-2002 New Beetles with Cruise Control and 1999-2002 Jetta's with Cruise Control. Campaign Code-N4. This is to have the brake light switch replaced. Having already received an earlier recall for the brake light switch (two years ago) and having had the VW dealership install the new switch- I was confused. Called the 866 number for VWOA and was told that I needed to make an appointment to have it done again. The recording stated that this must be done even if done before. This is to ensure that the latest style of brake light switch is installed. Please do not disregard this notice you receive. Thought I'd pass this along to the forum members.

Yeah, I just got that letter myself. Funny thing is that when I had 'Cup in the shop some time back, they said that they replaced the same item for reason of the recall. I guess they're just being thurough.

Yup it's a new and improved (or so they say) switch.

Oh. Well I guess I better get 'Cup on over to the shop.

Hey, is there a recall for all of the plastic switches, hinges, latches and compartment doors that break so easily

Yeah- if I "recall" you just have to pay for them.

I haven't had Cleo's brake light switch replaced. I never saw the need. 8 years and 178k miles haven't fazed it. Meanwhile, at work I've seen many of the replacement switches (the purple ones) from the first recall fail. Third times the charm? Or is it time to get out of this business?
