Default what is the hose

What is the hose that is to the right of the oil filler on a 1.8 turbo motor. I took the plastic cover off my engine and on the main part of the motor, where the oil filler cap is, all the way to the right of this, is a black tube. Mine is totally cut and I need to know what it is so I can replace it. I hope this is the reason for my dash oil light has been flashing.

That would probably be a vacuum hose. A picture would be more helpful. Also ... update your car info in your profile, helps us figure out which engine you have .... there are 3 1.8T engines in Beetles.

There is a partial picture of my 01 AWV 1.8T in this thread on another site, http://www.eclubvw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1157

Tell me which hose it is ... the picture shows everything right of the filler when facing the engine. I have some mods there also so don't be spooked.

I have a few here also on the old forum but can't find them.

WIsh I had a picture, I have a 2002 turbo S. I took of the engine cover and noticed that the hose is completely ripped open. I want to know what is is so I can buy a new one. Its a pretty thick hose and I know it shouldn't be torn. Only problem Im having withthe car is the oil pressure light and buzzer turn on from time to time. Oil level is fine.

Okay, so you have an AWP engine. Probably looks a lot like my AWV. Did you see it in the picture of my engine?

This is the tube Im talking about. My tube looks a bit different but it exits the same place. WHat is it and could this be my problem?

That top hose with the Y? I have seen those split, mine hasn't yet and not sure why. If it is split you are not getting proper crankcase ventilation. That is a dealer only part. Try 1stvwparts.com to get a dealer price on it. I am not sure how to look it up unless you have the part #, VW's are much better than Honda, they stamp part numbers in almost all parts big enough to have one stamped into or on it. See if you can find the part # stamped in or on it.

Thanks, it does have a part number. Actually has lots of numbers, Ill try them all. Do you think this might have something to do with my oil pressure light and buzzer going on and off. I got oil in it. Sometimes the blue temp light goes on after driving for miles and miles.

I could see it on the oil side, since it ventilates the engine crankcase.

It's connected to the thong, keeps it perfectly positioned in the middle of the rear bumper.
