Default Passenger Side Mirror Help (2002 New Beetle)

Hi, This is my first time here.
to get right down to it, I was working in the garage and just barely brushed the passenger side mirror and the insides that hold the mirror up just shattered inside, leaving my mirror hanging from the wire that goes to the mirror mover motor.

Anyways, I can get the parts from the dealership cheap, its the labor that will kill me.

Is there anyone around that can tell me how to take the mirror apart so I can replace those inside pieces and reattach my mirror to the car. (The actual mirror itself is unharmed)
Thanks for any help its much appreciated!

Welcome to the ORG .... you must be the first member of 07. I have never taken mine off ... but one of the black plastic peices on mine is loose, I believe they snap on. Once you have them off you should be able to get to the screws holding the rest of the assy on. I checked my Bentley manual, but it covers the mirror with the door removal, and it not as specific to just mirror removal. Hopefully some of the guys that have converted from the pre 01 mirrors can answer that better, YeloJkt ... where are you.

Did you send YeloJkt a PM? I looked through my bentley ... it doesn't really say much on the removal of the mirror.

Goldsounds I have not forgotten about you. I can not find my pics of my mirror swap. And my car is up on a lift getting front end work done. Just as soon as I get it back I will get some pics for you if you have not already got it figured out.

Default Same issue? Any pics or fixes yet?

Hi all,

Did the same today in the car wash myself, I was hurrying around the car, and gently hit my driver side, and the insides fell apart like a skinny guy getting hit by a giant.

If anyone has any pictures posting how to fix this, I have the exact same round black housing piece that looks fractured.

Thanks,

Rob

Any Other Suggestions? If I could get the mirror out, then I may be able to see what is broken. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

I changed alot of these on other cars, never a beetle though. On most of the others, you need to take apart the door panel or atleast the little triagular trim in the interior of the car. Then it is normally as easy as 3 bolts and a clip.

My wife's beetle's door panel is in peices and I will take a look and let you know tonight.

Hi Folks, I had my passenger side mirror housing base break. I need to repair it, but cannot find any assistance anywhere in my web searches.

I found this thread, but there is still no answer posted about how to access the bloody 2002 VW New Beetle mirror housing.

If you know how to disassemble it, PLEASE post a solution.

Thank you in advance for your help.
