Funky driver's door

HI guys...
I never used the key to open the door so I realized only today, giving the valet key to my girlfriend, that the door doesn't open, only closes (you know....meep! closed).
It goes 360 degrees with clicks every 180 degrees.
The fancy way would be to get in from the trunk but unfortunately the valet key doesn't open the trunk (well, it's supposed not to). Ok, do you think I have to change the whole thing or any of of you had similar problems in the past?

Never really heard of it not unlocking at all. The only thing I can think of is maybe the key lost sync with the security system?...I'm not sure if that would cause it to not unlock...

It sounds dumb, I know, but the key closes the door but doesn't open. Changing the entire part is damn pricey, I'll check with the dealership, maybe it's only a magnetic issue.

Bonnie, what may be a fix to your problem was covered here in the last few weeks, give the problem a search. I know Fowvay participated in the thread.
