Does this also apply if you press the button on the door, you hear the actuator working, then you have about 1.5 seconds to run to the back and pull it open before it grabs hold again? Or is there some adjustment that can be made so it waits a little longer? My wife can't move that fast!

Madwand, My car had the problem you are describing when I got her. My dealer installed a stronger spring in the truck latch and now I have no problems, even after installing a spoiler. IIRC the spring they used was from a Jetta hood latch. Hope this helps.

Mine has a big spoiler on it, I guess that could be the reason, extra weight not compensated for by the OEM spring!

Use a T-30 TORX driver and loosen those black rubber blocks located just below where the strut meets the body. Move those blocks away from the body a little and see if that gives the trunk lid enough push to get past the re-latching mechanism...
