Hi everybody.
Since this past Thursday, the "BRAKE" indicator blinks for three or four times with a beep on the dashboard after a minute or two of driving. What would be the cause? I had the brake fluid replaced about three months and 6000 mi ago. Maybe the brake pads? About a year ago I had them inspected, and they said they would last two or three years from then... Thanks! Julian. |

Hiya! Welcome to the org! hmm brake light eh? So is it the one that says "brake" or the one that shows the brake pads. If it is in deed the "brake" light, the most common thing is the e-brake is on slightly. I think if there is a prob with the abs that will light up too, not sure on that thoguh without getting my book. if it is the circularr light that has little lines around it then it is your brake pads wearing out. ooh also lets see some pics of your beets!

This has happened to me twice now. When mine does it, it's only when I come to a complete stop. It beeps 3 times then the light blinks away. And my e-brake isn't on. If I turn the car off it goes away.
I figured it was a weird wire or some quirk. I'm curious to see some answers in this thread.

It must be a glitch because the "BRAKE" light and a tone means your e-brake is on. Either you have a really stiff e brake lever that's not being pushed down far enough to please the sensor or there's some sort of malfunction, no biggie, just an annoyance.

Hey fyzixx... ever find anything out about this? Mine's startin to bug... it's doing it more often.. Sometimes it'll do it everytime I step on the brake and when you're in stop-and-go traffic it kills me...

Check your brake fluid. I had the same experience just recently. I thought it could not be brake fluid because I had just had the oil changed at Jiffy Lube and they are supposed to top off your fluids. I checked the brake fluid and it was quite low. I filled it up and the light stopped flashing and chiming.
Check your brake fluid even if you don't think that's what it is. |
