2004 VW Beetle Headlight replacement

How do I do this? I have the H1 low beam bulbs (new, one of the old ones is burnt, I'm replacing both for good measure).

I found how to replace the passenger side, but when trying the same method with the drivers side, 100% of posts said that they broke the clip that held the lever down...no one has successfully replaced the drivers side headlight without breaking something...that I could find anyways
I had similar problems, contacted the stealership, and they said that I might want to take the battery out...but that's a 6 hour job if you don't have the bentley manual
