Default Radio Volume

Appreciate it if someone could help me understand why the volume of my radio (even if playing CD) keeps going up and down by itself. It seems that when I slow the car down, the volume goes down as well. When I speed up, then the volume goes back up. Is this supposed to happen? If so, how do I stop it? I would the volume to be consistent unless I change it myself. Appreciate some assistance...

Mahsuri

That ain't the way it should work! - I wouldn't stuff around with it myself - take it back to your dealer as the car is under a year old and the warranty will cover that. Good Luck.

Thats EXACTLY how it should work, just so you can hear the volume at high speeds and its not too loud when your in town traffic. Most VW's do this. (European Calrion ones anyway)

If you want to turn it off press the SET button for 2 seconds and you can disable this feature in there.

Funny, mine does the same thing. I remember a Maxima my parents had when I was a kid that did the same thing--variable stereo volume or something like that. I wasn't absolutely sure it was happening in the NB or if it was all in my head though

A lot of newer cars have this feature. My parents have an '03 Chevy Astro that does it too. Its really nice I think. My '99 doesn't have it but thats ok. I like my music loud

I wish I had options on my radio. Like SmileyBug said, the '99 can only adjust start up volume and CD mix options.

Maybe I'll get a newer head unit one of these days. One with options.

All our Nissans have it. Nissan calls it SSV (Speed Sensitive Volume). It can be adjusted or turned off altogether. I don't think my current 2001 Bug has it though.

Hey, no self-respecting guy would read a manual except as a last resort.

Mine doesn't (Monsoon), so do u do the reverse to set it to 'On'? Dumb question, but should the HU be on or off when you do this?

Upon further inspection, I think mine only does this part of the time, which leads me to believe it's yet another problem with my auxillary input.. but, then again, I could be wrong... again.

HU is on when you make the changes. My brother actually found the small options menu in my Bug. He read it in the manual!
