Default Shaking car at throttle change

I have an annoying problem with my 1999 2.0 NB and I don't really know what's causing it. The whole car shakes 2-3 times when I change the throttle, mostly when I go from no throttle to speed and vice versa. So it happens mostly when shifting (low) gears, but also when driving at low speed with low throttle. It probably appears at higher speeds and/or throttle levels as well, but not as obvious. It kinda feels like driving over a smooth little bump, but it seems to be in the driving direction instead of up/down.

Two things I can think of: cluth worn out (although I have no experience of how that feels) or worn out engine mounts. Anybody with thoughts or suggestions before I take it to the stealership?

Sorry, no thoughts coming to mind. I'd do more diag. Open the hood, have someone blip the throttle. Try holding the break and putting it in 1 and 'lugging' it to see if the engine moves alot.

I doubt it's the clutch, that just feels like a 'disengagement'. you'll feel "less" if anything; not extra bumps.

Might it be the famous 'hesitation' issue?
When it happens, is your upper body thrown forward, then back as the acceleration finally happens? I got something like this happening since I got my bug. Tried many things to solve it. The only thing that works 99% of the time is to drive it harder. As in more throttle. After countless attempts to track down the issue, I just drive it like I stole it and it doesn't happen every day anymore.

Best/safest way to check engine mounts is to put car into 1st gear with engine off then push/pull car against engine resistance backwards and forwards. Do this on a level surface and if mounts are broken the engine will move up/down/sideways. Ususally if mounts are broken you will hear a thump as well.
Good Luck.
