new 2005 bug
i bought mine in may 2005, i have 2250 miles on it after six months. should i get the oil changed now? or wait for 5000 miles as stated in the manual. i've been told that vw uses a break in oil that should not be changed until 5000 miles? any comments?

If it's been 6 months I'd change it!
If you wait until 5,000 miles that will be a year. Sounds like you do a lot of short trips. Lots of condensation in the crankcase my friend . Just my .02

Given your light driving, I'd base it on a time base. 5000/6 mo 10000/1 yr (mercedes spec is 10k/1yr on synthetic oils, one german to another?) ... VW does castrol oil for this change, then at the next one moves the engine to a synthetic, like mobil-1.
