Default Secondary Air Injection Pump

I'm starting a different thread. I feel dumb it wasn't the alternator. It's the secondary air injection system that is running after my car is turned off and continues to run on and off until the batter is dead. Does anyone have any experience with this? Could it be a sensor. I'm thinking of disconnecting the wires to the pump until I can bring it into the shop.

OK, that's different. It's suposed to stay running till the turbo or something is cooled. I think what your problem is, is that you just need a new battery. It may show that you have a "good" battery when in fact if it's older than 4-5 years it's time for replacement.

It maybe the battery. It's a 1.5 yrs old. But is it strange that when I go to jump the car after the battery is dead that the air injection pump runs?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, that's strange. Sounds like more than just cool down mode. Maybe it's the coolant temp sensor or a fan modulator. I wouldn't know how to test them though. Maybe someone else will.

The air pump is there just for the emission purpose. It injects fresh air into the exhaust to reduce NOx during "cold start". Hence, it should not run after reaching operating temperature. Since it's there for the emission purpose, you might just disconnect it.
