I posted this in the 2.0L gas forum, but figured it might be better located in here. Sorry for the repost.
Hello Beetlemaniacs. My GF got hit by another car and her passenger side mirror is now dangling. The other car pushed the mirror towards the front of the car more than it was designed to and it looks like a connecting piece on the inside is now broken. Does anyone know where to get replacement parts like this online and also how to disassemble the mirror? I've attached a pic to show the part that I think is broken. If I can get the part number I think I can fix it myself, but I didn't have much luck just browsing. Thanks! |

Since this is a VW specific part, I would suggest you order from www.1stvwparts.com - they are actually a Volkswagen dealer in Auburn, Washington and have great pricing for new parts.
You didn't mention what year your girlfriend's car is, so I'm going to need to get that before I can give you exact information...however, I will do my best. From your picture, it looks like the mirror cap itself is intact. Therefore, all that you really need is the mirror assembly, since you can salvage the old mirror cap, glass and attachment hardware. Here are the part numbers that you need to order: 1C1-857-507-F-GRU Rear View Mirror Mounting 1C0-857-987-01C Cover Piece 1C0-821-143-H Pivot The part numbers that are posted above are for vehicles built from 06/01-11/02 - Your vehicle may not be in this range and if that is the case, the part numbers ARE DIFFERENT. Please confirm before you order so that you don't get the wrong items! If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at cressmanp@gmail.com. Regards; Peter |

Hi Peter. Thanks for the useful tip! She says it's a 2002. We were on that site earlier this weekend, but couldn't discern which parts she actually needed from the scanned images they have.
Part 1C1-857-507-F-GRU is #2 here: ![]() So the part that looks broken is included here? It's so hard to tell. Thanks for any more help you can provide. I know the dealer will want $500. |

I know that this thread is quite old ... but I was wondering if you would be able to help me out. I have the same problem as the other person in the thread ... side view mirror was bent too far forward and the assembly is broken ... (housing, mirror, attachments etc are intact). Would you be able to tell me what the part numbers for the pieces I need are? I have a New Beetle Convertible 2007 2.0L. It is the driver's side mirror. You're help is greatly appreciated! Astrid |
