Unhappy help with electrical??

so here's my problem(s)...

1. my beetle overheated (apparently), so i put water in it. when i did this and let it idle for a bit, the check engine light went off and everything seems to be ok.

2. now my windows will not go down and my interior lights (dome and vanity) will not work.

any suggestions?

thanks,

it could just be a crazy coincidence...you could check the fuse for the lights and window. Its an easy cheep place to start...

why do you think it overheated? My '98 never had the CEL go off for an overheat.

i replaced a fuse that fixed the whole window/lock problem. now i am trying to replace the thermostat. we are hoping that is the problem with the overheating. i drove my car about 2 miles and the overheating light came back on. i have one of those "Haynes" books and it says that may be the problem since the water seems to be coming from the overflow valve.

i just want to scream! AHHHH!

Default Overheating

Mandy I would check your water pump first, this a known problem,
The plastic impeller blades tend to crack causing it to spin on the shaft. Most after market pumps have metal blade these are much better.
