2000 Model Power Window Gremlins...help

I have recently purchased a 2000 New Beetle, 2.0 motor, automatic trans, moon roof. I am having a couple of issues with the vehicle. #1 POwer window on the drivers door will not go up or down using the door switch. The window will go up and down using the key fob at the drivers door lock. This tells me that the power mechanizm is working, the window will go up and down with the key, just not the door switch. I pulled the door switch off, swapped the drivers side plug to the passenger side switch, still nothing, I can put the passenger side plug into the drivers side switch and make the pass window go up and down with the drivers switch. So I am thinking the drivers side switch is good ???? I called the local VW dealer, they said the drivers side switch was probably bad even though I explained my trouble shooting. I bought a new switch at the dealer ($50) installed it, still nothing. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Can anyone guide me to another post similar? Thanks guys

Now I cant get the windows to go up with the door lock switch, my pass side window still is working fine with the door switch
