Question confused about the rpm's

when i am driving at 60mph on the hwy, what should the rpm's be running at?

That depends on what engine you have and what transmission you have.

But if I were to guess, I'd say 60mph=4.5K?

2.0 automatic



i have 2.0 5 speed and 60mph i am at or around 3k

roughly 3k at 60mph. 3500 at ~72mph, which seems to be Darla's sweet spot.

i did the tdi gear update and im getting roughly 72mph at 3k. 3.5k and its purring at 85-87ish.

i know some people feel this isnt a worthwhile upgrade but for hwy commuting it's well worth the $$$ IMO.

I wish I could do something because I would get so much better milage as I'm mostly highway too. I went from a CRX at about 2k rpms at 75 to this beast. I kept wanting to put him into 6th

I get low 30's highway doing 70. These cars may have weird gearing (I wish there was a 6th gear!) but they are designed to work well under those conditions it seems.

i just can't justify doing this when at 70 mph i am just over 3k..60 I'm just shy of it and 55(which is what I've been doing lately) I am well under 3...I don't get near 3.5 until i hit 80
