Chill Winston.
The worst that happens is you'll have to enter your radio code to enable your radio (and re-save all your radio stations). If it comes to that the radio unlock code is in your owner's manual -or- on the sticker in the bottom of your spare tire compartment. There is a device that keeps the cars memory/settings from being cleared during a battery change. It uses a 9-volt battery and plugs into your cigarette lighter outlet. It costs a couple of bucks and is available at auto parts stores, Radio Shack, etc. |

Smears, Rotgut and Company give new meaning to the phrase STEALERSHIP. I'd be careful letting them touch anything I want to have work correctly.

Sears is fine...get a diehard gold international and be done with it if you don't want to install it yourself.
If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, pick one up and use the How-To I helped write.

My 2000 GLX used to have a CEL issue that was quite annoying.
Before I had the bread to get it fixed, I would just unhook the battery positive side, wait 20 seconds or so and reconnect. It would erase the CEL code and everything would be fine until a few weeks later it would come on again. With my 1.8t (maybe others too?) the turbo would not work once the CEL was on, it would disable itself (spelled crappy to drive) Once I reset it as listed above, it would be a rocket again. Once I finally took it in, the mechanic sctatched his head as he noticed all the disconnects in the VAG COM record.. I never had any trouble with the radio either, the code came on a card that I kept in the owners manual. But I never ever had to punch it in. The radio would be just fine after restart. Go change your battery and relax.
