Default Radio Volume Keeps Going Down

Does anyone have trouble keeping the volume up on their stereo? When I put it loud, it goes down. It repeatedly does this. Maybe my NB doesn't want me to go deaf?

It has always been my opinion that if you take care of an NB, it will take care of you, just never thought I would ever hear about it.

Is this a stock radio?

The stock radios are supposed to do that. There is a way to disable it but I don't recall off hand, someone else should chime in.

The Beetle stoch radio has an function that adjust the volume to the driving speed. If you drive faster, it will raise the volume and drop it when you slow down. Quite nice, but only if set correctly: if the adjustment factor is set incorrectly, it will adjust the volume more than the background noise changes. In that case you'll notice the lower volume if you slow down.

Now about setting this function: I don't recall how to do that Check out your manual, I'm pretty sure it's explained there...

Didn't it exist since 1998? I know ALL Monsoon units do.

I have three NB's with just the stock radio and neither have the "auto volume" feature.

Are you sure? I still haven't checked the manual, but I now recall you have to hold the SCAN button a few seconds to get to the setup menu. The feature is called AVLS I think.

I have not checked any manuals yet; however I bought my '98 New and I have never heard it do any automatic volume control. I will check the manuals when I get a chance.

Sorry, I was wrong about how to get to the setup menu. Press the TP button a few seconds to get there. (SET is printed right below the text TP on my radio). The function is not called AVLS but GALA on my radio. I have it set to level 6, which I think is prefect. I don't even notice the volume changing unless I already have it very high and the rev the engine and speed up to 90mph+. Then it gets really loud.
