Can anyone clarify this. I was told that replacement interior bulbs on a New Beetle (2003 Turbo S) had to be purchased from the dealer as the voltage was different. This person told me that I could not go to a parts store and buy their bulbs to install. Is there any truth to this?

The NB runs on 12v just like any other modern car. The interior bulbs are available at local parts stores.
