Thumbs down Even MORE problems with my NB :(

Hey everyone,

a few weeks ago I posted on this forum about how my NB is having what seems to be electrical problems.

I really think its more then that, because the problems have continued after I had it checked out 2 times.

Both times they said the computer was showing no codes.

What happens: Car doesnt start sometimes, it just won't turn over. Then when it does start, the radio flashses SAFE and all the settings go back to "0" including the time, the trip meter, radio stations erased etc. The spoiler comes in and out.
Sometimes when driving the car turns off. At stop lights I have to turn the key in the ignition to get it to start again, but while driving on the highway at 70 mph it just turns off and back on really fast (about 10 second lapse).

Now today, it turned itself off and on on the highway. Then, the spedometer shows I"m driving 60 miles an hour when I'm standing still and the RPMs show 4,000 when I'm standing still. This is new as of today. Also the spoiler is stuck open.

Any idea what the problem might be? I'm going to have it checked out again tomorrow but I have a feeling that they are going to say the same thing: computer isn't showing codes so they can't do anything.

I really LOVE this car, but it's becoming very unreliable! Any suggestions or ideas would be a really big help. Thanks everyone.

i agree, sounds like a weak/loose ground. or possibly power wire. has there been any work done to the wiring harness in the front of the car?

Thanks everyone. I had a friend who is car savvy look at my car, but I guess its not what he's used to working with so he was at a loss.

But I took it in today, and told the mechanic to check the grounds, ignition switch, etc. So far theyve had it for 8 hours and can't figure out what is wrong with it

flip240 ~ the only work that was done on my car since I've owned it, is that the battery was changed. Then they tested the computer a couple times but since it was showing no codes, nothing was done.

The person at the car shop mentioned someone might have put a lock box or something on it, as an extra security measure, but I don't understand really what the means or why it would cause car problems. Does anyone know about that?

Check the fusebox on top of the battery for any problems. You could have a short or something in there.

Immobilizer? The wife's NB has one and when that thing activates, the car goes into a "coma" ... and it has a two hour time out; afterwards everything works as advertised. I have yet to determine why it does it, its rare, but it does happen.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone. My car is being methodically checked for the most likely problems that you all mentioned. However, no luck so far! It's as if it's a ghost.
