Default DRL headlights work when "off", but turn off when lights turned on!

2000 NB, anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing a problem in my light switch? Anyone know how to remove it from the dash, and what to check?

I'm a little confused as to your problem...

The DRLs are supposed to run when the lights are turned off. They are just on when the car is on. When you turn on the switch, your regular headlights will turn on. So are your headlights not turning on at all when you turn on the lights?

Could you be in "brights" mode and have both bright bulbs burned out? That's about the only thing that I can imagine would cause the problem you describe... have you checked the fuses?

Sorry, I should have said more. The DRLs are the normal low beams, and they work when the light switch is turned off. They should stay on when the lights are turned on, but they do not. The high beams they work fine when I turn them on, but I can't get the low beams to go on with the light switch on. My handbrake is off, and that interlock switch is good, as the lowbeam DRLs come on fine when the lights are turned off.

Sounds like failure of the DRL relay.

Can you tell me where the relay is? What it looks like so I can check or replace it?
