Default question about 2000 beetle

on my power window control knob on the top and bottom are of course the left and right mirrors, to the right of the knob is the mirror heater, and to the left looks like an icon to fold mirrors. Is this possible? when I turn the knob to the symbol nothing happens, is it broken or was the panel switched? and is there a website or a list of things that can help me decode the options on my option list.

There is no OEM mirror fold option on beetles. In order to help you learn about your controls if you don't have a manual, consider going to ebay and finding one for sale there. Many members have resorted to this to get a manual.

The mirrors may be heated and the icon you are seeing may reflect the heated mirror option.

It's possible that the previous owner had a new switch installed and it is technically the wrong switch - because of the icon for the fold option. The middle setting should be for the heated mirrors. The picture is too small for me to see it clearly, but that is my best guess. I think someone else had a similar switch on their car and asked a similar question. We finally decided that while the switch worked (except for the fold option) it was not the correct switch.

You should be OK - just not exactly what initially came on the car. If you have heated mirrors and they are not working, you will need to look at the switch to make sure everything is hooked up correctly or look at the mirrors to make sure they are not burned up. This was a common problem (user error). You would think that you should leave the switch in the middle but that leaves the heated mirrors on and causes them to burn up.

Good luck.
