I had that happen to mine when I first got it. I took it to the dealer to fix it, since it was still under warrenty so I'm sure if it was the bulb that was bad or if it was loose.

My wife called the dealer and they wont even look at it now snce we changed the bulb.
If you take it in there and it's not a factory bulb they wont warranty it Does anyone know where you can buy that metal clip thats in the back. The metal part you have to press down on to get the assembly out. |

Two things come to mind.
1-There are two bumps on the base of the bulb and two dimples in the socket. These need to line up for the bulb to sit down tight in the socket. 2-Be sure that the retaining clip that holds the bulb in the socket is clipped. If it is loose the bulb can bounce and lose it's ground. Don't know how important that external retaining clip is, the manual says it may or may not be there. On my 99 there are no external clips. I went through the same issue. It's fairly straightforward. This has to do with the pins on the car side. You need two flat head screwdrivers, the ones that you use on a watch. What you do is take the two screwdrivers to narrow the gap between the two metal surfaces on the plug. Just put pressure between the two. Then, you want to use a flat head pliers, the one with no grating on it, to squeeze the pins on the cluster side together. Then, make sure they are aligned straight. Check out my other thread on this. I will post some photos of this the next time I take out the cluster.

This is an '06, same as mine. There is a metal spring-like clip that puts tension on the bulb base. + and - on forced onto the contacts on the bulb. Once it has been put in, it does not play. This has to do with the contacts between the cluster assembly male plug, and the stationery base female plug. It is not make good contact.
