Default So, my driver's door is perpetually shut!

Yes! It's true! I can sit in my car and arm it. I can then open the drivers door, get out, grab my coffee, get back in, close the door and manually lock it from the inside without the car dearming

The old forums say that the whole lock assembly has to be replaced. Someone also mentioned using a VAGCOM to see the security system responses to if the doors are open or closed (just to confirm that the sensor is stuck). Any other thoughts or insights into this matter with the microswitch?

Thank you all!

So I'm gonna guess that the fix is the replacement of my entire lock mechanism, taking moderate skill of disassembly and something like $200 of my hard-earned dollars to make it work right?

Yup. Or you could do that entire process except just buy the smicrowitch at radioshack(it's like $3 or someting) and take a dremmil to the $200 lock assembly if you think you can handle that.
