Default 2001 VW Beetle Wont Start

Hello,
Two days ago the car was running fine, no lights, nothing. Now when I go to start the car I get no sound when I turn the key. I have full instrument lights, radio, vents, etc etc. WHen I turn the key, I hear no indication that the car is trying to start. I dont hear the engine turn, see lights dim, or hear any clicking. I do hear a tiny whirring noise under the hood and assume its some fan or pump...Ive tried a new battery and just don't know where to go from here beyond getting it towed to a shop.

Any ideas?

Default try

first place to look would be starter fuse, starter relay then starter it self.....that would correct exactly what you are describing.

When you turn the key to start do you hear any kind of clicking, or does the panel lights flicker at all??

auto or manual, you can "bump" start a manual, and if it runs fine that its a starter issue for sure....

If it's an automatic, make sure it's fully in Park.

Default Starter Intermittent

This is the third time now that the starter won't turn over. The last two times, it worked after a short wait. This time it's not working after about 12 hours.

Where is the starter relay? I would like to check it before jacking up the car and removing the starter.
