I am having a similar problem. I woke up this morning a 7am to my car alarm going off, I ran to the front window and the alarm silenced. I thought this was rather odd.

Later on in the day i started driving my car and the trunk light was flickering on and off so i stopped got out and slammed it shut. The light stayed on bright red the rest of my journey. After i got home I locked the car from the fob but no beep beep sound. But the doors were locked so i was fine with it for now. Took two steps and the single beep went off like as if ou were to lock it. I thought it was weird that it was super delayed. 3 minutes later my alarm went off. So i've just left my car unlocked for the time being until i find out what the heck is wrong with it. We have terrible rains here in washington during the winter so i'm figuring water is getting in there somehow. My 3rd brake light went out a few months ago, (yes i know its not supposed to go out since its LED) I figured mine was a defect and would replace it at a later time.

I just looked at my 3rd brake light and theres some condinsation in the light so my guess is this is the problem? A leaky 3rd break light? I'm going to replace it and hope that works. But as for now i'm terribly worried leaving my car unlocked.

Hi. I had same problem, and got it fixed.

1. Water was getting into the car around third brake light. I used clear silicone, sealed it around the edges, on the outside. Can't even tell silicone is there.

2. I took trunk latch apart, removed part with switch from car, and spray the hell out of it with electric contact cleaner from Auto Zone. After it all dried, I assembled it back, and had no problems since them.

2a. When it was all taken apart, but still not cleaned yet, I played with security system. Trunk opened, doors closed, hit arm button. Doors locked, but no beep. So then i pressed trunk latch switch until it beeped. That's how I found out switch still works but it is dirty.
If I remember correctly, that switch is NORMALLY CLOSED, so in position when trunk is closed, electric circuit should be closed too. Small movement of the switch caused alarm to go off, circuit to open. This told me that contacts inside of the switch were just corroded in exact place where they touched when trunk was locked. Corroded/oxidized metal becomes dielectric hence the problems.

If this does not help, you could always leave trunk latch wires shorted until you get switch replacement. It would allow alarm to be armed/ car locked.

Good luck!
