Exclamation Stripped bolt help

I posted this in the 1.8T section and haven't gotten any suggestions so I am posting it here in hopes of some. I really need to get the cover off to do some engine work.

My problem is....

I went to remove the cover off the engine. Got the right bolt off... great!
go to the do the left one and it just spins and spins!

Any ideas on how to get it off. I tried lifting the cover while unloosening, I tried going at it at an angle... nothing.

Help.

If the threads are gone, it's very likely not holding.

Just pull it off.

it probably just unscrewed out of the block.

If it spins and spins when trying to remove it, it's not stripped; it's probably already out. Otherwise you were turning it the wrong way. (and if it was stripped by overtightening, it'd still just ... lift right out.)

So go ahead and lift the cover and pull it towards you to remove it.
