I think you need a VAG-COM for that.
Also, I think there is a certain weight that needs to be in the seat for the airbag to be on. Not sure what that is. Can you put the car seat into the back seat?

Yes, I can put the car seat into the back seat, bet it is no so easy to do
and, of course, better would be to see a child when driving. If I want to put child chear on front seat, the airbag have to switched off. |

Please put the child in the backseat where he/she belongs. You can get mirrors in the event that you need to see the child in the back seat.

If I'm not mistaken, it's illegal to put a child seat in the front seat of a vehicle. Could be a state to state thing, but here in PA, that's illegal.

what stinks is if you want to move something and put the back seats down you have no way to take your child. I agree the safest place for a kid is the back seat but a switch would be nice for a trip. My husbands car has a switch to turn off the airbag. I personally have airbag phobia and put the seat back as far as possible. I've heard so many stories how they really messed up a person even in a minor accident going as slow as 35 miles per hour.

what year is your bug?? Didn't '04 and up models go to the weight sensing airbag. Does you car have a symbol/light in the center dash between the vents that says "passenger airbag off"... if so, then you need to do nothing.
