Default Will a hood fit INSIDE my New Beetle?

Greetings.

I the misfortune of hitting a deer with my Bug. (The deer was even less fortunate...) The hood is not repairable. I have a line on used hood in good condition in the same color at a salvage yard about 100 miles from my house. I have tried to measure the hood. And I have tried to measure the inside area in the hatch of my bug to see if that hood will fit. It seems like it will be a close call.

So, my question for the experts is: Has anyone out there successfully got a hood to fit inside your bug?

Thanks!

Maaaaaybe if you fold down the back seat and put it in diagonally? But, the hood only takes a few bolts n stuff, just drive there, put the new hood ON your car, and THEN see if your old hood fits in. If not, see if they want to buy it from you or will accept it as part trade

ha, I've hit 2 deer with my old Beetle so I know how you feel. You can fit a hood in the back (I've done it), but it is a tight fit. Fold down the backseats and try to slide it in at an angle. It'll only really fit one way but just be patient and gentle - it'll go.

I hope you aren't tall because I had to put a hood in the back of mine and my knees were very close to the dash (I'm 5'5"). You need to sit the seats up and have nothing in the car that you can't sit on the floor but it is doable.

i have had to do something similer to that with my 88 daytona. had the glass busted out of the hatch and it is cheaper to replace the whole hatch instead of just the glass, rear defroster for that huge back window for the lose! drove about 80 miles to a wrecking yard that had a nice one and swapped them out right there in the yard. easy as cake.
